Liana Isakadze

Liana Isakadze (Georgian: ლიანა ისაკაძე, Russian: Лиана Александровна Исакадзе, German: Liana Isakadse) (born August 2, 1946) is a Georgian violinist.

Born in Tbilisi, the capital of then-Soviet Georgia, Isakadze won her first Soviet-wide musical prize at the age of 14 in 1961 and graduated from the Moscow Conservatory under the guidance of David Oistrakh in 1968. Since 1965, she has performed in various European countries and has won several awards. She became a soloist for the Moscow Philharmonic in 1971 and a head of the Chamber Orchestra of Georgia in 1981. She would lead this orchestra for the next 15 years, based in Ingolstadt, Germany, since 1990. Since then, she has been primarily lived in Germany and France, at the same time being actively involved in various musical events in Georgia[1] and Russia.[2] From March 26, 1989 to December 26, 1991, Isakadze was also a People's Deputy of the Soviet Union.

Isakadze has been awarded, inter alia, the title of People's Artist of the USSR (1988), Meritorious Artist of the Georgian SSR (1970), the State Prize of Georgia (1975, 1983, 2002), and the Order of Honour of Georgia (1998, 2002).[3][4]
